New Delhi, Feb 25 (IANS) The Delhi High Court Thursday directed the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) to allot shops in a south Delhi market to 21 Kashmiri migrants who were forced to leave from there following the construction of Delhi Metro.

Giving the direction, Justice S. Muralidhar said: 'According to NDMC, 21 sites measuring 4X6 feet have been identified for the Kashmiri migrants in the INA market area.'

'NDMC will communicate to the petitioner as to what others conditions they need to fulfil for the allotment of the site,' the court said while disposing off the petition.

The court also directed the petitioners to apply to NDMC in the required format by March 12.

The court was hearing the petition filed by 21 Kashmiri migrants, who were displaced in 2007 from the INA market due to Metro construction.

The petitioners had said that they were displaced with an assurance that they will be allotted shops but had not been given anything.

However, civic agencies contended that the Kashmiri migrants had actually encroached upon the land and that's why they were removed.

All the migrants had come to the capital in 1990.
