Artist creates portraits made entirely from type fonts

London, June 25 (ANI): An American artist has created four striking portraits of women - entirely of type from particular fonts.

Each of the subjects is depicted using letters and punctuation from one of four fonts - Baskerville, Helvetica Neue, Bernhard Modern and Avenir.

In order to create the images some of the type was blown up and rotated, but otherwise the text is unaltered, meaning the feel of each of the portraits is very different.

While the Avenir "typewoman" is curvy, Bernhard Modern is delicate and frilly, and Helvetica Neue is straight-backed and unfussy.

The Baskerville model, drawn from a font designed in 1757, is the boldest and proudest of the four.

"No letterform has been skewed, stretched, flipped or any other bastardizing technique," the Telegraph quoted Matt Sutter, the American artist behind the portraits, as saying.

"So the letters are pure as the driven snow," he added.

Sutter, from Philadelphia, is selling prints of the images from his website. (ANI)
