Srinagar, June 26 (ANI): The Inspector General of Police (Kashmir Zone), S. M. Sahai, has said that the police is trying to talk to senior and respectable, serious persons in various localities so that normalcy is restored as soon as possible.

Sahai said that although the protests have been reported from various parts of Srinagar and some parts of Ganderbal and Budgam area, police is trying to maintain utmost restrain although many miscreants among the mobs attack them.

He said that most of the valley in North and in South has remained calm. He said that protesters have even damaged ambulance carrying patients and injured.

It is unfortunate that three persons have lost their lives in the protests and public property at Badamwari and Waqf property at Eidgah has been damaged, he said, adding that many vehicles mostly civilians had suffered damages.

All this has hurt the economy of Kashmir badly. The number of tourists have decreased in last two three days, he said, adding that the small shopkeepers, particularly the vegetable and fruit vendors, have suffered the worst. He said the present situation will hit the tourist season badly.

He said that the Police and the CRPF have been directed to exercise maximum possible restraint as there were only a handful of miscreants who are instigating the stone pelting.

Sahai said the police would provide all possible help to the family of Farooq Ahmed Rather who was killed by a stray bullet at Mazhama yesterday. (ANI)
