New Delhi, July 26 (ANI): Hundreds of people from Schedule Caste and Schedule Tribe community met Congress President and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi at her residence here on Saturday to express their faith in her leadership.

They also articulated their happiness over party's success in winning the recently held trust vote which the UPA had to face in the wake of withdrawal of support from the government by its Left allies on the issue of India-US civil nuclear deal.

"People of the Schedule Caste community have come from different places of the country. People of states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal and Uttarakhand came here and expressed their faith in the leadership of Sonia Gandhi. We have also congratulated her on winning the trust vote," said Jai Kishan, a member of the Schedule Caste delegation.

These people had come in large numbers with artists who merrily presented dance on the beats of traditional drums. They also greeted Sonia Gandhi with flowers and garlands.

The Congress led UPA on Tuesday won the trust vote in the Lok Sabha by a comfortable margin of 19 votes.

Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh moved a vote of confidence in the parliament. (ANI)
