Ahmedabad, July 27 School children in Ahmedabad, on the first anniversary of the serial bomb blasts in the city, offered tribute to the victims.

A series of 16 bombs had ripped through Ahmedabad on the eve of July 26, 2008, killing 49 people.

Hundreds of school children along with their parents and the kin of victims' marked their presence in 'Puja School' of the city to offer tribute and condolence.

The students offered prayers and released balloons and pigeons as a messenger of peace.

"All the students of the school offered prayers, observed silence to pay homage to the victims. They also released pigeons and balloons in the sky for the world peace," said Mahendra Patel, Principal of Puja School.

A group called the "Indian Mujahideen" said it carried out the Ahmedabad attack, writing in an e-mail sent five minutes before the first blast that it was in revenge for a 2002 massacre in Gujarat.(ANI)
