New Delhi, Oct 27 Families of the two cops' who were kidnapped by Maoists on July 30 in Dharampur in Lalgarh District and Union Railways Minister and Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee met Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram on Tuesday.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Mamata said Chidambaram has assured all possible help to the suffering families.

"I along the families of two missing constables met the Home Minister. He said that he was upset and equally concerned about the matter. Though law and order is a State subject, he assured of the family of all possible help in searching for them," Mamata said.

Mamata further accused West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee of playing with the sentiments of the abducted cops' family members and of misleading the country with his outrageous comments.

"West Bengal Chief Minister has misled the country, distorted the facts and misled the people and families of abducted policemen. It's a matter of great concern," Mamata said.

On Saturday, West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya had erroneously told a press conference that the two policemen had been killed, but changed his statement later.

The two policemen kidnapped are sub-inspector Kanchan Garai and constable Sabir Mollah. The families are desperate to have the two kidnapped policemen rescued. (ANI)
