New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS) A Delhi Police constable was on the run Sunday after being charged with raping the 25-year-old wife of a friend.

The constable, posted with the Crime Branch in Dwarka, allegedly assaulted the woman in Sector 16 of Dwarka when her husband had gone to Haryana.

The woman told her husband later that the constable was drunk when he raped her. A medical examination confirmed sexual assault.

The police have registered a case against the constable who is absconding.

'Efforts are on to arrest him,' the officer said.
