Media should regulate itself: Arjun Ram Meghwal

New Delhi, Mr. Arjun Ram Meghwal, the M.P. from Bikaner has said that the media is the fourth pillar of democracy. For the development of democratic organizations like parliament; it is essential to give freedom to media. Besides that for the better relationship between media and parliament, media also need to develop its self-regulatory system.

Meghwal was giving presentation on the topic of “Media and parliament” in Otawa, the capital of Canada in the seminar under the guardianship of commonwealth parliamentary association. He also suggested that the responsibility of regulating the media should be given to an apex regulatory board.

This was the 7th Canadian parliamentary seminar; in which 2 M.P.s each from 10 countries related to commonwealth parliament took part in it. M.P.s of Britain, Canada, Africa, Australia and Newzeland also falled in with Meghwal on his viewpoints given on the topic. From India Mr. Arjun Ram Meghwal from Bikaner (Rajasthan) and Ms. Ratna Singh from Pratapgarh (Uttar Pradesh) represented the country in the seminar.
