Shillong, Dec.28 The recently held 2nd International Trade Expo in Shillong boosted domestic trade as also succeded in promoting trade relations with South East Asian countries. The 10-day Expo provided a platform to entrepreneurs to interact with international traders at the fair held at the Jiengkieng Ground here. Over 35 stalls displayed indigenous products including bags, jewellery, garments, crockery, shawls, house ware, handloom and handicraft products and even Christmas decorations. Nazmul Khan, the organizer of the International Trade Expo, said: "The response has been very good. I believe this will multiply. We anticipate a very good response that's what we feel. I'm sure we'll be have a better response in the days to come." Rongmai, a visitor said: "This thing is very good in order to promote and develop the country. All the things here are not from India. They have been brought from outside like Thailand and other places. We get to see new things, new products. This should continue in future too." esides giving a fillip to trade, the event also offered an opportunity for interaction among traders from different countries. It will promote Shillong as a usiness hub and investment destination of Northeast. With peace prevailing in Meghalaya State, the capital Shillong has been regularly hosting such events in the past as well. By D. Henpilen (ANI)
