Agra, Jan 29 (IANS) In a novel initiative, record holders from all over India will gather at the Taj Mahal March 22 to campaign for cleaning river Yamuna.

A new platform -- World Record Holders Organisation -- launched here Friday, announced the initiative. The organisation brings all Guinness World Records, Limca and India Book of Records holders under a common umbrella.

President of the Organisation Dinesh Shandilya, a Guinness record holder for making the longest and shortest flutes, told IANS that efforts were on to draw record holders from all over India to gather at the Taj Mahal March 22 to demand cleaning and protection of our rivers, including Yamuna.

The organisation will also help members fight for their rights, recognition and promotion, secretary Parthasarthy Sharma, another Guinness record holder for the highest number of patients registered and treated in a year, told media persons. Sharma is a homeopath working for a charitable trust in Agra. He made the record in 1998.

Many record holders and future aspirants including FM radio jockey Neha Kushwaha, have also joined the organisation.

'As experienced members we can not only motivate others but guide them through the intricate paper work and legal intricacies, so that others can save time and money,' Devendra Gupta, a surgeon who is a Limca record holder for being LLM and Ph D, said.

Akash Gupta, a Guinness record holder for playing guitar non-stop for 55 hours last year, will be publicly felicitated Sunday. Divisional commissioner Radha S Chauhan will present him a cheque for Rs.1 lakh on behalf of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati at a function to be held at St Peter's College.

The promoters said they would be holding a national conference soon to highlight the role of record holders and their contribution to society.
