England must banish Lord's victory euphoria: Cook

London, July 29 Opener Alastair Cook says England must banish the Lord's euphoria if they are to establish a decisive Ashes lead in the third Test at Edgbaston, which gets underway from tomorrow.

A first win over Australia at Lord's in 75 years left the team on cloud nine, but Cook said: "We've had a good week off and enjoyed being 1-0 up, but that counts for nothing now. The hard work starts again and that is where we are."

"Lord's was brilliant because we played some really good cricket and we are in a good situation, but there is a long way to go," Cook added.

Cook is sure that Australia will come flying out of the traps in Birmingham as they play catch-up in the series, but he is confident that his own opening partnership with Andrew Strauss is developing well just at the right time.

"We feel very comfortable batting together," he said.

"We know we got out of jail in Cardiff, got deservedly lucky and decided we had to capitalise on that. Fortunately we did but we know we have got to keep looking forward here," he said. (ANI)
