Ambala, April 30 Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Thursday hit out at the BJP's 'India Shining' campaign during the last elections in 2004 when the latter was in power.

Addressing an election rally, in Harayana' Ambala city, Sonia blamed the BJP for ignoring the actual plight of the poor and instead projecting India as a shining country.

"During 2004 Lok Sabha polls, people were not happy with BJP and NDA policies. The economic situation and social environment was not good.

People of our country felt insecure under them. But BJP and their partners thought that India was shinning. They could not see problems of the poor and the plight of the farmers," said Sonia Gandhi.

Sonia also pulled BJP for its over concern for the security situation of the country by reminding the saffron party of its record when it was in power heading National Democratic Alliance.

"They (BJP) talk about strong minister, but will you call him (Advani) one. When he was Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, besides Parliament attacks, there were terror attacks one after another following it. Also, two dangerous terrorists were freed from jails and sent to Kandhar," said Sonia said. (ANI)
