Lahore, June 30 (ANI): Senior PPP leader Makhdoom Amin Fahim, who had initially emerged as the front runner for the post of Pakistan's prime minister after the February 18 general elections, has rejected the rumours making rounds that he was going to be the next Pakistan president.

Fahim told reporters here last evening that a new 'people's party' was governing the country and that he had no relation with it.

The government should try to resolve people's problems instead of impeaching the president, the Daily Times quoted him as saying.

He added that it was injustice with the people of Pakistan that they were being sent heavy electricity bills despite load shedding.

A couple of weeks ago PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had said that President Pervez Musharraf would be soon removed and somebody from the party (PPP) would be installed as the country's next President. Following this assertion, rumours had been making rounds in Islamabad that Fahim might be sworn in as the next President in order to cajole him, as he is said to be angry with the party's top leadership after being sidelined from the race of prime minister, before Yousuf Raza Gilani was chosen to occupy the top post.
