Jammu, June 30 (ANI): Security forces have recovered large cache of arms and ammunition in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a joint operation launched by 16 Rashtriya Rifles and Surankot police, a hide out of the militants was busted out in Chanwali Bufliaz area of Surankot on Sunday.

The operation was launched after a tip off about the terrorist activities.

According to police two .303 rifles, one AK rifle, ten magazines, 300 rounds, 14 rounds of Pica rifle, 20 detonators, 12 grenades, one kilgram of explosive, 78 rounds of pistol and one landmine were recovered.

"Our joint operation was going on since yesterday. We were getting the information that lots of arms and ammunition were dumped somewhere. Today morning we located this hideout at around 11:00. There were two natural boulders under which these were hidden. One pica gun, one Chinese grenade, ten UBGCL grenades and large quantities of other items were recovered and the place has been finally destroyed," said Prabjeet Singh, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Surankot.

According to police they plan to launch more search operations, as there have been forewarns of more activities of the terrorists flowing in.

"Infact this is a great achievement for us. In Chambraid Mastandra area, we launch many such search operations. Reports come to us about militants movements. This is a big shock for them that we have seized such a huge quantity of arms and ammunitions that they had hidden," added said Prabjeet Singh, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO), Surankot.

Search operations are still going on in the adjoining forest area.(ANI)
