The President, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil has congratulated the Indian Football team on its maiden Nehru Cup title victory.

In her messages to the team led by Baichung Bhutia and to Shri P.R. Dasmunshi, Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting who is also the President of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), Smt. Patil has said that the nation is proud of the team's achievement, team spirit, skills and spirit of sportsmanship. She has also sent her hearty greetings to N.P. Pradeep for his magnificent performance in the final match. The President has also said that the victory was possible due to the unstinted support provided by the AIFF.
