Brit lesbian couple's kids to have two mums and one dad!

London, Sep 30 In a new-twist to the traditional two-parent family, two married lesbian women in Britain are all set to become mums to babies they both have conceived from a same straight male friend.

Emma Flanagan and Laura longed for kids after their marriage on Sept 2, 2006, and found a unique solution to have their own family.

While Emma, 32, is seven months pregnant, Laura, 28, is two months' pregnant by the same man-their friend Andrew (name changed)-whose name won't appear on the babies' birth certificates.

"We intend to just put our names on it for each child," The Mirror quoted Emma as saying.

The move is a step ahead of gay couples, who go to private IVF clinics for anonymous sperm donations.

Emma and Laura, who share a two-bed maisonette in Nottingham, have no doubts they are doing the right thing - bringing their babies into a world where their children, who will be half siblings, will have two mummies and one daddy.

The duo has already decorated the babies' room with bears and bunnies in neutral colours because, although Emma knows she's having a girl, they don't yet know the sex of Laura's baby.

"Some people are shocked at first. Often people think because you're gay you won't have children," admitted Emma, who like Laura works as a cleaner.

"But we both longed to be mums and our children are planned and will be brought up in a loving family with parents who are married. Now, thanks to a wonderful friend who generously donated his sperm, we are both expecting," she added.

"We were both incredibly broody but we we could never afford sperm donation privately. We wouldn't have liked the idea of an anonymous dad. We began wondering if we had any male friends who might like to help us," said Laura.

And the first man they could think of was their friend Andrew.

"Not only was he attractive and kind, he was a friend and a good dad. We all got on very well, and he knew how much we longed for children," she added. (ANI)
