Jaipur, October 30. The Jaipur Bench of Rajasthan High Court has found that the State Government took all precautionary steps to keep in control the situation during Gurjar agitation. It has dismissed the writ petition filed in this regard.
Dismissing the petition, the high court has said that the State Government ensured that no loss was caused to the life and property in the state of Rajasthan on account of Gurjar agitation.
The 'Prabudh Manch' had filed the petition No.8449/2007 in Rajasthan High Court pleading for appropriate steps to prevent the possibility of class struggle, security to public property and citizen's life. The High Court had directed the State Government to file affidavit in regard to ensuring law & order and maintaining peace on this petition.
It is to be noted that the State Government had made comprehensive arrangements for ensuring public peace and safety of human life and public property. During the 'Jail Bharo Movement' and Gurjar Mahapanchayats, it also issued detailed guidelines to combat the agitation and made arrangements for temporary jails.
The State Government also took appropriate steps for ensuring the safety of public life & property and maintaining peace. Not only this, the Zila Magistrates took precautionary steps under the section 144 and 151 alongwith asking the agitators to maintain peace & order. Measures such as deploying additional police force in sensitive areas, identification of anti-social elements and legal action against them, maintaining road and rail transport were taken in the state.
Besides 339 additional Magistrates were appointed and arrangements for transporting the arrested people were made. In order to  ensure peace and order during the agitation, 99 companies of Rajasthan Armed Police Force and Central Para Military Force were deployed. Over 58 thousand 500 people were arrested during the agitation in the state. Alongwith this appeal was also issued through the medium of news papers.
