London, Nov.30 Former England fast bowler Simon Jones is eyeing a comeback to the national squad against Australia in 2009.

The Worcestshire pacer, who has been on the injured list since his heroic performances in the 2005 Ashes series,has cast aside his crutches and begun playing mind games with the Australians - and is now ready for some Aussie mind games.

Having faced serious ankle and knee problems over the past three years that have required three operations, Jones says he wants to take on Australia next summer.

"I just decided to chuck out the crutches two weeks ago and it's really good to be back on my feet. It's been really tough but my surgeon Andy Williams is happy with how my last op went and I start running again in January," the Sun quoted Jones, as saying.

"After that, the Ashes is the aim. I just need to get fit. I'm 30 on Christmas Day and certainly feel I've got a few years left in me.A big motivation while I have been out is that I will play for England again," he said further.

Jones was speaking at a Sodexo coaching event at Lord's. (ANI)
