President Patil arrives in Jakarta

Jakarta, Nov 30 Visiting Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil arrived at Jakarta on Sunday in her last leg of tour to Vietnam and Indonesia.

Indonesian Foreign Minister Dr. Hassan Wiraynda and Minister for Women Empowerment Frida Hatta received the President at the airport. During her visit, the President is scheduled to meet President of the Republic of Indonesia Dr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

According to sources, President Patil is likely to take up the issue of terrorism during her meeting with the Indonesian President. The other issues that would be discussed in the meeting include strengthening of economic, cultural and political ties with Indonesia. esides meeting the President of Indonesia, the Chairpersons of the People's Consultative Assembly, the Regional Representatives Council, and with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, President Patil would lay wreath at the Kalibata National Heroes cemetery on Monday.

The Presidents of both the countries would also sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday. n the wake of Mumbai terror attacks, the Indian President has cut short her ten-day state visit to Vietnam and Indonesia by two days and now she would leave from Jakarta on December 1 instead of her scheduled departure on December 3. he President is scheduled to visit Mumbai terror attack victims at JJ Hospital on Monday evening. n December 2, President Patil would hold discussions with Maharashtra S.C. Jamir and Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh. Later in the day she would visit families of martyred Anti terrorism Squad (ATS) officers Hemant Karkare and Vijay Salaskar.
