Mumbai, Jan 31, Former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar on Saturday denied speculations about him contesting the forthcoming general elections. "I have not been approached by any political party. I have also not spoken to anyone," Vengsarkar said. Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut had earlier claimed that the cricketer would be the party's candidate for Mumbai's North Central constituency. Another Shiv Sena leader Neelam Gore denied the speculation. Mumbai North Central has been a prestigious constituency for Shiv Sena and it has a very strong base here. Vengsarkar is currently one of the two vice presidents of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played 116 Test matches for the country. (ANI)
