Mumbai, Mar 31 (ANI): Designer Kiran Uttam Ghosh unveiled a chic collection in silks on the second day of the Lakme Fashion Week on Sunday, while designer Pria Kataraia's flirty, feminine and full of spice creations inspired by city life and festivals added to the glitz.

Models walked the ramp in jerseys and kaftans in indigos, blacks and browns with silhouettes an unusual mix of hats, trousers and jackets coupled with sportswear, opulent embroidery and traditional Indian prints.

The second day of the fashion event showcased the autumn and winter collections of 57 designers.

Ghosh who was extremely upbeat about her latest collections said her creations were influenced by menswear.

"I think the collection was a little more casual a little effortless and like I said 'manish' in style, a lot of deconstruction which was the rapped random jackets some knotted belts, highwaist or bylines some Jodhpur and lot of menswear fabric," said Ghosh.

However, some buyers said it wasn't quite a suitable line for winter.

Meanwhile, desinger Pria Kataria Puri's show saw models sashay down the runway in short and sheath sequined dresses in white, silver and gold with bubble hems, balloon hems and saris with red embroidery at the borders.

"India is associated with Banarasi silk... which a lot of people have forgotten and a lot of designers are not doing it in the last few years. I wanted to revive the silk and the Benarasis and of course with a little bit of modern twist because we have to dress according to the times," said Pria Kataria.

Bollywood actress Anupama Verma and Sandya Mridul joined their friend Pria Kataria on her show and both looked equally excited while talking to media.

"She surprises us each time with her new designs and new collections and as the princess said what I love the most about the saree is that it is very feminine. So it makes a woman feel very beautiful. I think that is what a designer is all about from a female point of view," said Anupma Verma, an actress.

The set was elaborately decorated with chandeliers and velvety drapes, while models sashayed down the ramp to the sound of golden oldies like 'Fever' and 'My Heart Belongs to Daddy'.

On the whole, the fashion extravaganza tried to showcase the latest trends. (ANI)
