Agartala, July 31 Road connectivity between Tripura and the rest of the country was cut-off as activists of Congress Party blocked the highway to Assam and other states in the region.

The Congress Party launched a protest campaign against the Left Front led by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M). As a mark of their protest, the Congress party workers set up hurdles and other barriers along the highway, bringing all vehicular traffic to a standstill.

The protestors charged the CPI-M of killing of two Congress party workers and also injuring hundreds of others during the July 20 Panchayat elections.he Left Front won more than 80 percent of village councils in the Panchayat elections.

Terming these incidents as atrocities, Ratan Lal Nath, a senior Congress party leader demanded detention of the accused and withdrawal of false cases against Congress party supporters. Many Congress workers were arrested for blocking the traffic (ANI).
