Begusarai (Bihar), Aug 31 (ANI): Communist Party of India General Secretary A B Bardhan was on Sunday admitted to a hospital after falling sick on his way to flood ravaged Madhepura and Saharsa Districts of Bihar.

Bardhan, 82, was admitted to intensive care unit of the Barauni refinery hospital after he complained of diarrhoea and shivering, said doctors attending to him.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dharmik said that the leader was running fever and his blood pressure was also high. Blood and urine tests are being conducted, he added.

According to party sources, the doctors attending to him had detected a stone in his gall bladder.

They further added that Bardhan has abandoned his visit to the flood ravaged areas and would return to Delhi in the evening.

Bardhan had gone to Patna to attend the CPI State Council meeting on Saturday, which did not take place due to the floods. Following which, the CPI leader decided to visit the flood-affected areas in Begusarai. (ANI)
