Pushkar (Rajasthan), Aug 31 (ANI): The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) favours giving citizenship to Bangladeshis staying in the country and advocated reservation for the economically weak and minorities in Government and private sectors. A resolution passed on Sunday by the LJP, headed by Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan, at Pushkar, Rajasthan said, "Those Bangladeshis who are already staying in India should be provided citizenship. Further infiltration should be checked. There should be strict vigil on the border". The party supported reservation for the "socially and economically" backward groups. The resolution said, "The party feels that in view of their social and economic conditions, the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe people should get reservation in private sector. Every community or group should have equal representation in all sectors." Quota benefits should also be provided to Dalit Christians and Dalit Muslims to enable them to join the main stream, it added. For the economically weaker sections among the upper castes the LJP is in favour of giving 10 per cent reservation in central government jobs. The resolution also said that employment should be a fundamental right of every citizen in the country. The party also criticised ban on Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and demanded setting up of an independent inquiry commission with social scientists and human rights activists as its member to study the role of various organisations in spreading terror and communal tension.
