New Delhi, Aug 10 (IANS) Light to heavy rains brought some relief to the denizens of the capital Tuesday. However, the day temperature remained above average.

Delhi received 21.6 mm of rainfall from 8.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m, the Met department said.

The maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 36.6 degrees Celsius and 29.2 degrees, respectively - both three notches above average for this time of the season, an official of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The maximum humidity was on the higher side at 93 percent and minimum at 54 percent.

After the rains some parts of the capital reported traffic jams.

According to the traffic police, jams were reported from around the city due to waterlogging. South Extension, Ashram Chowk, K.G. Marg, Ring Road, Pragati Maidan and Greater Kailash were the most affected.

The control room of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi received four complaints of waterlogging, an official said.

The total recorded rain for this season till Tuesday evening was 341.6 mm.

The maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to hover around 36 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees, respectively, Wednesday, the weather official said.

Light rains are also expected Wednesday. 'The skies will remain partly cloudy with a possibility of rain in some pockets of the city,' the official added.
