Born in Calcutta on 16th November 1952, Dr. Om Kumar Harsh possesses three research degrees, namely Ph.D, D.Sc. (Physics) and Master of Electronics Engineering by research from Australia. He has also completed three Masters Degrees namely in Physics, Engineering (Australia by research as mentioned) and Computer Science (Australia). He also holds a post graduate diploma in Instrumentation from Australia. In addition, Dr. Harsh has also guided half a dozen Ph. D. students and published or presented around eighty (80) research papers in journals or conferences of International reputation in the field of Solid State Plasma Physics (Eg Plasma Oscillations during X-Ray and Auger Effect, Chemical Shift, Surface Plasma Oscillations, Plasmon Scattering etc.), Software Engineering, Distance Education and Knowledge Management. In coming days he is likely to receive one more doctoral degree in Information Systems from the Australia.

Dr. Harsh has an academic career of working as an academician in all the three fields of Physics, Engineering and Computer Science. He has done his research work with five internationally recognized scientists including Professor K.S. Srivastava (Ex-professor, Lucknow University), Late Professor R.N. Singh (Ex-Director, IT, BHU), Late Professor B.K.Agarwal (Ex-Head Physics of Allahabad University), Professor Martin Green (Director of Special Research Centre, University of New South Wales, Sydney) and Professor A.S.M. Sajeev (Head of Computer Science/IT, University of New England, Australia)

In a ceremony at the Kanpur University, ex-President of India Dr K. R. Narayanan, awarded him “Doctor of Science” degree in Physics in 1990 for the first time in the history of Kanpur University. It has been reliably learnt that earlier the Kanpur University (that time Christian College) conferred only an honorary “Doctor of Science Degree” to Professor Sir C.V Raman.

Research papers of Dr. Harsh have widely referred across Europe and American continents. Eminent International Scientist and late Professor B.K. Agarwal of Allahabad University (who was the research adviser of Dr Harsh) have cited his important research papers in his book published from Springer-varlog (West Germany).

Dr. Harsh has also been involved in delivering his research talks across various countries. One of his most important lectures was delivered at the Australian National University, Canberra in November 2000 which is available on the following web site:

Dr. Harsh has also been engaged in consultancy work to utilize his overall knowledge in the fields of Solid State Plasma Physics, X-Rays and hydrodynamical Plasma, Software Engineering, and Distance Education. He has been a member of various Academic and Industrial organisations (http://www.iaeng.org/ISSC.html,

Dr. Harsh has served at Kanpur University, Monash University, University of South Australia, and Charles Sturt University Campus. He also served for short term at University of New England, Australia. In addition, he has worked as a Post-doctoral research fellow at the Lucknow University, I.T. BHU and I.I.T Delhi (short period). He has also been selected to work as a Professor & Dean to work at a US institute (Champlain College) in Dubai, where he worked from 2003 to 2005. Dr. Harsh also has industrial experience in Australia e.g. at Compaq Computers and TL Cousine (Sydney). He received many opportunities at doctoral and post-doctoral levels to work in the USA and the West Germany, however, due to one or more reasons, he could not avail them.

At present, he is also been associated with the University of New England, American University, London and OHE services.

Dr. Harsh has taught a wide range of subjects starting from Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering and Instrumentation. In addition to these, Distance Education Technology has also fascinated him. He has published some of his research papers in Distance Education areas too. He has also written and edited couple of general articles published in the various magazines and newspapers. In the beginning of his career, Dr Harsh was awarded senior and Post-doctoral research fellowships by the Council of Scientific and Industrial research, New Delhi, India.  Dr Harsh has been widely involved with various universities of UK, USA and South Asia for the courses development, articulation agreement and various other academic activities. His research work on “Software Reuse, Knowledge Management and Reuse Techniques” could be valuable tool for the cost saving strategies by managing and building new software. In his latest research work, Dr Harsh extended the pioneer work of Nonaka (1994) from two to three dimensional systems where knowledge reuse has been recognised first time as a prime and independent factor.
