Raise a toast to the 7th Annual Teacher's Achievement held in Mumbai

Beam Global Spirits & Wine, the 4th largest spirits company in the world, held the 7th Annual Teacher's Achievement Awards ceremony at Taj Land's End in Mumbai. This much awaited star studded night was attended by crme de la crme from the film, corporate, sports and communication fraternity. Ace bollywood director Mr. Raj Kumar Hirani won The Teacher's Achievement award for the Entertainment category. Mr. Mahesh Dattani received the awards in the communication category for theatre. The Teacher's Achievement Award for the Business category was bagged by Ms. Chanda Kochar, of ICICI Bank. Mr. Manavjit Singh Sandhu won the award for the Sports category and Mr. K V Kamath was honoured with the lifetime achievement award.

After accepting the Teacher’s Achievement Award for the Business category Ms. Chanda Kochar said: “It is an honor to achieve the award. Normally award categories for Business Man and women are separate. Those days are fast changing; we should now select a Business Leader just the way Teacher’s has done.’

‘Thank you Teacher’s. We Sportsmen don’t usually get to rest our laurels a lot as our coaches constantly push us back to our game. Thanks to Teacher’s I am going to rest on my laurels for at least tonight.” said Manavjit Singh Sandhu, after bagging the Teacher’s Achievement Award for sports category.

The crème de la crème like Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Milkha Singh, Sabira Merchant, Atul Kasbekar, Prahlad Kakar, Harsh Mariwala, Subir Raha, SM Dutta, Anjali Bhagwat, Pooja Bedi, Piyush Mishra, Nadira Babbar, Naraini Shastri, Prasoon Joshi and Gaurav Chopra attended the Teacher’s Achievement Awards

The Teacher’s Achievement Awards ceremony was hosted by the glamorous actor and television talk show host Pooja Bedi, who held the attention of the audience through her impeccable style and gift of the gab. The 7th Teacher’s Achievement Awards night witnessed a mélange of various entertainment acts on a magnificent stage and was applauded by the audience. The event began with a splendid dance performance by Nritarutya, a group of young dancers who were from disparate dance and martial art backgrounds which includes Bharatnatyam, Odissi, Kathak, Contemporary Technique, Kalaripayattu and Taekwondo. The troupe showcased a brilliant performance inspired by power, drive and achievement that mesmerized and captivated the audience.

The grand finale of the award ceremony was a magical musical tribute to some of the great musicians of the world by Niladari Kumar and his group. Niladari has been awarded the titles Sur Ratna, Surmani, Jadubhatta Puraskar and the Sanskriti Award for excellence in music. Niladari Kumar and his group paid homage to some of the famous and celebrated icons like Ustad Zakir Hussain, Guns N’ Roses, Jimmy Hendrix, Pandit Ravi Shankar, on the Zitar – an amalgamation of a sitar and a guitar.
